Detailed Program of Golden Triangle Tour

Day 1: Welcome to India (New Delhi)

Arrival at Delhi International Airport. Traditional and personalized welcome by the representative of our travel agency and transfer to your hotel.

Check-in time is 14H00

Day 2: New Delhi – Varanasi (by flight)

After breakfast, transfer to the airport to take the flight to Varanasi. Arrival in Varanasi and transfer to the hotel.

Later explore to Sarnath, one of the holy places of Buddhism, where Buddha had preached his message. Here, Emperor Ashoka had built monasteries, stupas including one 100m high.

Visit of the museum of Buddhist objects and sculptures found on the site. Return to Varanasi to attend the evening ceremony on the banks of the Ganges where every day between 8000 and 10000 people gather. Overnight at Varanasi.

Day 3: Varanasi – Agra (by train)

Very early in the morning, departure for a boat trip on the Ganges, along the Ghats, where we see hundreds of pilgrims coming to do their morning ablutions, pray, purify themselves in the sacred water and meditate in a completely different atmosphere at the time of the awakening of the city and prayers on the banks.

Visit the most venerated Temple of Varanasi, Kashi Vishwanath or “Golden Temple”.

We also stroll through the narrow streets and return to the hotel for breakfast. We have free time to explore the city market.

In the evening, transfer to Varanasi railway station to take the night train to Agra.

Day 4: Arrival Agra

Arrival in Agra early in the morning. Upon arrival, transfer and installation at the hotel. Then departure for the visit of the Red Fort or Agra Fort. Built in the middle of the 16th century as an impregnable citadel, the site presents a succession of marble palaces, mosques and delightful gardens.

At the top, magnificent panorama on the other bank of the Yamuna River and on the Taj Mahal.

After the visit of the Red Fort, we visit the Taj Mahal, immense mausoleum in white marble, symbol of an eternal love, built by Shah Jahan and dedicated to his beloved Mumtaz Mahal. Emblem of India, this mausoleum is a jewel of architecture and one of the most famous monuments in the world.

Day 5: Agra – Fatehpur Sikri – Jaipur

After breakfast, departure by road to Jaipur. On the way, visit Fatehpur Sikri, the ancient capital and fabulous ghost city of red sandstone built by the Mughal Emperor Akbar. Fatehpur Sikri is home to a 16th century citadel which has now become a ghost town with surprising architecture resulting from the synthesis of various styles: Indo-Muslim, Hindu, Christian and Jain.

After the visit, we continue by road to Jaipur. On arrival, transfer and installation at the hotel.

Jaipur, capital of Rajasthan, owes its nickname of “Pink City” to the pink paint which covers the buildings of the old city (among the Rajputs, the color pink symbolized hospitality). Possibility of a bike rickshaw ride (optional) to visit the old pink city and discover the Bazaar.

Day 6: Jaipur Sightseeing

Day dedicated to discovering the pink city. In the morning after breakfast, departure to visit the Amber Fort and climb to the fort on foot / car.

Visit the Amber Fort dating from the 18th century where you will find beautiful temples and palaces. Return to the city for lunch. Photo stop in front of the Hawa Mahal (Palace of the Winds).

In the afternoon visit the Jai Singh II Astronomical Observatory and the imposing City Palace where the Maharajah still lives. Rooms display ancient objects and a collection of weapons belonging to the family.

Late afternoon is free to explore the bazaars of Jaipur which are very lively: there are all the trades, jewelers, weavers, dyers, sculptors, potters etc. Return and night at the hotel.

Day 7: Jaipur – New Delhi

Today, we take the road towards Delhi. On arrival at Delhi check in hotel. Rest of the day is free to visit the Delhi Haat, go shopping and buy souvenirs.

Day 8: New Delhi Sightseeig

After breakfast, we start with the visit of “Old Delhi” with its ancient monuments, narrow streets and lively bazaars. We visit Jama Masjid, one of the largest mosques in India, completed in 1658 by Shah Jahan who also built the Taj Mahal.

Then we take a walk through “Chandni Chowk” the most famous market of “Old Delhi” where you will find many things ranging from saris to silver jewelry. We also visit Raj Ghat, the sober memorial of Mahatma Gandhi.

In the afternoon, we continue the visit of “New Delhi“: you will be driven on the Kartavya Path, passing in front of the government buildings of the British era, designed by Lutyens, including the India Gate and the Presidential Palace (Rastrapati Bhawan).

Then we proceed to the beautiful Humayun’s Tomb of the Mughal era and predecessor of the famous Taj Mahal. And if time permits, we will also visit the imposing minaret of Qutab Minar.

Day 9: Transfer to the airport
