Delhi Red Fort
It is one of the most emblematic monuments of the city: this royal palace is spectacular. Designed in red sandstone in the mid-17th century, it is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Try, if possible, to attend one of the sound and light shows in the evening which will transport you through the history of New Delhi to the rhythm of unique music.
Raj Ghat
Near the National Gandhi Museum is the Raj Ghat, the marble tombstone that marks the spot where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated in 1948. The place is simple, featuring a simple slab of black marble but you also have the opportunity to walk in the park where you will discover other monoliths of great Indian leaders & father of nation.
Dilli Haat
For those who love to haggle and want to score a bargain, the Dilli Haat craft village near Delhi is for you. It is possible to buy magnificent clothes, handmade clothing, embroidery, traditional paintings, incense and even typical jewelry. Finally, there is a large square where you can taste several regional specialties.
India Gate
You too, come and witness an incredible event and join a lively crowd near India Gate every evening: under the setting sun, you will witness a colorful spectacle with incredible shots.
Jama Masjid
Surely one of the most typical and traditional mosques in India: upon entering this high religious place, after leaving your shoes at the entrance, after putting on fairly wide pants, you will discover a magical place where everything seems tall, majestic. Pay attention to the grand staircase, the massive arch that leads you to a bustling square. Qutub Minar
Also called the Victory Tower, it is the tallest minaret in the world, 73 meters high and built in 1193. A vestige of the first Muslim city. Locals consider it a place that brings good luck and believe that if you put your back to the pillar and wrap your arms around it, you will be able to grant your wish.
Akshardham Temple
It is a Hindu temple complex in the heart of New Delhi that represents approximately 10,000 years of Indian culture throughout the ages in all its splendor, grandeur and beauty. Overlooking the beautiful Lodhi Garden, this temple complex showcases the true essence of ancient Indian architecture as well as spiritual traditions.
The Lotus Temple
The Lotus Temple, in the Bahapur district, is a magnificent building built in white marble: its shape shows 27 petals which form the sacred lotus flower. Surrounded by gardens, fountains and ponds, it took almost 10 years to build. Note the vault of the temple which is simply breathtaking. A quiet, peaceful, relaxing place, recommended for those who want to cut out the ambient noise of New Delhi.
Chandni Chowk
One of the main arteries of all of New Delhi. A real nerve center of Old Delhi because it is possible to see the most famous monuments of the capital such as the Red Fort and the great mosque of Jama Masjid. It is also the place where you will meet cycle rickshaws and rickshaws which happily make their way through the crowds along the narrow streets. There is everything you want on this street.
Humayun’s Tomb
For those who have not had the chance to go to Agra to admire the famous Taj Mahal, Humayun’s tomb is surely the closest thing to it. It was built in the middle of the 16th century and surely served as inspiration for the famous palace. Is close to Lodhi Gardens.
Bangla Sahib Gurudwara
Located near Jama Masjid, this Sikh temple is a very important pilgrimage center both in New Delhi and throughout India: in fact, people from all over the country come here to pray. We recognize the Bangla Sahib by its golden dome. Come and discover this unique atmosphere between prayers, songs and sharing. A special place where you can drink spring water which is said to have healing properties.
Birla House (or Gandhi Smriti Museum)
It is one of the most famous places in the history of contemporary India. This is the house where Mahatma Gandhi lived the last days of his existence and where he was assassinated. Acquired by the government in 1971 then opened to the public in 1973, it is today a museum where you can discover the atmosphere that reigned at the Gandhi home, namely the bedroom, the place of his nocturnal walk, paintings murals.
