Trip Overview

Rajasthan is the quintessence of romantic, fairytale India. Some of the most spectacular sights of this vast country are located here. The Rajputs, the maharajas, once ruled over great wealth. Their palaces and forts, many of which are now used as hotels, bear witness to this glorious past. Our tour takes us to the main attractions of Rajasthan, from the Thar Desert with the unique city of Jaisalmer to the Taj Mahal in Agra, one of the new seven wonders of the world. We experience India in depth, with only one domestic flights to discover Khajuraho and Varanasi. A trip to Rajasthan truly appeals to all the senses and awakens the desire for further adventures in this colorful and diverse country.

Itinerary

Arrival in Delhi in the morning and transfer to the hotel. In the morning, we begin our sightseeing tour of the Indian capital: the Red Fort (from the outside), the Jama Masjid, and the old town of Chandni Chowk. Then we visit the India Gate, drive through the government district with the parliament building, and the tomb of the Mughal Emperor Humayun.

In the morning, we visit the largest stone tower in India: Qutab Minar. Afterwards, we drive to Mandawa. In the afternoon, we take a tour of the city palaces with their fascinating murals. (260 km, approx. 6-7 hours)

Via Fathepur to Bikaner. In the afternoon, we visit the imposing Jungarh Fort, one of the finest examples of Rajput architecture. (190km, approx. 4-5 hours)

In the morning, we visit the Deshnok Temple (Rat Temple) and continue our journey via Phalodi and Pokhran to Jaisalmer. Jaisalmer resembles a fantasy scene from One Thousand and One Nights, surrounded by an intact city wall. (330km, approx. 6-7 hours)

Day 5 :
Jaisalmer

In the morning, we spend time sightseeing in Jaisalmer: visit the Jaisalmer Fort and the Jain temples of Sambhavnath and Rishabdevji. Stroll through the picturesque old town with its traditional yellow sandstone havelis. In the afternoon, we'll take an excursion to the Sam Sand Dunes, including a one-hour camel ride. Return to Jaisalmer in the evening.

We continue through the Thar Desert, stopping in Osiyan, to Jodhpur. In the afternoon, we'll visit the mighty Mehrangarh Fort. A winding road and impressive gates will lead us into the interior. On the way back to the city, we'll stop at the white marble tomb of the Maharaja Jaswant Thada. (265 km, approx. 5-6 hours).

On our way to Ranakpur, we'll drive through beautiful panoramic landscapes. Here, we'll visit the enchantingly beautiful Jain temple complex, including the unique Adinath Temple. Later, we'll continue to Udaipur. (250km, approx. 5-6 hours)

Day 8 :
Udaipur

Udaipur, with its traditional cityscape and enormous palace, is idyllically situated on the shores of Lake Pichola. We begin by exploring the old town with its narrow alleys and bazaars. We then visit the City Palace – the largest palace complex in Rajasthan – and the Jagdish Temple, dedicated to the god Vishnu. In the afternoon, we take a boat ride on the picturesque Lake Pichola with views of the Jag Mandir and Jag Niwas palaces.

Continue journey to Pushkar, the holy pilgrimage city of the Hindus. During the Pushkar Festival (date -04), we spend two nights in a good tented camp. Here we experience the colorful Pushkar Festival with all its hustle and bustle. The itinerary is as follows, except that we only stay one night in Jaipur. (300km, approx. 6-7 hours)

Continue to Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. In the afternoon, we'll visit the unique Palace of the Winds, Hawa Mahal, the Maharaja's Palace and Museum, and Jantar Mantar, the largest stone observatory in the world. Afterwards, we'll stroll through the bustling bazaar streets. (140 km, approx. 3 hours)

Excursion to Amber Fort (8 km), one of Rajasthan's most beautiful palaces. Jeep ride up to the fort (with the Pushkar Festival tour, the entire city tour of Jaipur and Amber is included on this day). The afternoon is free for you to explore the "Pink City" on your own.

Our journey to Agra (240 km) will take approximately 5-6 hours. Upon arrival, we visit the imposing Red Fort, the work of four generations of the Mughal dynasty, whose splendor and magnificence the fort reflects.

At sunrise, visit the unique Taj Mahal, whose silhouette is synonymous with all of India. The tomb was built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaz. Afterwards, we continue to Gwalior and visit the Gwalior Fort. From there, we continue to Orcha. (240 km, approx. 5-6 hours)

In the morning, we visit Orcha, including the Shesh Mahal. Afterwards, we continue to Kajuraho and visit the eastern group of temples. The "erotic" temples are a pinnacle of Indian temple culture, with unsurpassed sculptural decoration on their exterior walls, famous for their many depictions of erotic acts. (170 km, approx. 4 hours)

After breakfast, we visit the erotic temples again, this time the western complex. Here we visit the largest and most magnificent Khandhariya Mahadeo Temple. Later drive to Prayagraj, en route visit Chitrakoot. On arrival at Prayagraj visit the confluence of three holy rivers, Ganga, Yamuna & Saraswati. Rest of the time visit local marekt and Anad Bhawan. Overnight at Prayagraj.

After breakfast drive to Varanasi – the sacred Hindu city on the Ganges. In the evening, we observe the evening prayer ceremony at the sacred ghats from small boats.

Day 17 :
Varanasi

Before sunrise, we take a boat ride along the Ganges. Here we experience a mystical, timeless India. Later, we take a city tour and see the Golden Temple of Vishveswara (only from the outside) and countless pilgrims on the bazaar streets. Later, we'll take a trip to nearby Sarnath, the site of Buddha's first sermon, with the Dhamekh Stupa and the main temple.

After breakfast trasnfer to Varanasi airport to board flight to Delhi.  On arrival at New Delhi meet our representative and transfer to near by hotel. The afternoon is at leisure until our farewell dinner together. In time one of staff follow you till Delhi International airport and board onward flight.
