The natural wealth of the Indian subcontinent is still unique, mysterious and fascinating for Nature lovers. In Indian philosophy, life in all forms is considered sacred and it is advocated that compassion is essential for all living beings. Worship of nature in all its various forms is an integral part of India's cultural heritage. India has a rich diversity of wildlife, including about 500 species of mammals, 2100 species of birds, 250 species of reptiles and 30 000 species of insects. They live in the country's diverse vegetation, which ranges from the open thorny desert of Rajasthan in the west to the evergreen forests of Kerala in the south, the rainforests of northeast India and the alpine pastures of Kashmir in the north, as well as inland and marine waters, swamps and marshlands and the moist and dry deciduous forests of the east coast and central India. India's commitment to conservation is unmatched and "Project Tiger" is a classic example of this. The basic principle of this project is to preserve the entire ecosystem in order to protect the tiger. The project originally began with 9 tiger reserves covering an area of 16,339 km² with a population of 268 tigers. On our trip we visit four of India's most famous national parks, Tadoba, Kanha, Bandhavgarh and Ranthambore National Park, in search of the "King of the Jungle", the Bengal Tiger. Of course, those interested in culture will also get their money's worth. In addition to a detailed tour of the two megacities of Mumbai and Delhi, we also visit the magnificent Taj Mahal and the beautiful "erotic" temples in Khajuraho.

We arrive in Mumbai shortly after midnight and are transferred to our hotel. In the morning we start exploring the most important sights of Mumbai such as the Gateway of India, Dhobi Ghat and Mani Bhawan. On the way back we stop in Kala Ghoda, the art district of Mumbai, and later visit St. Thomas Cathedral. After a tea break at the Yazdan Bakery we meet the Dabbawallahs, Mumbai's logistical "wondermen". Our last stop is the Victoria Terminal.
Meals: Breakfast included
After breakfast transfer to the airport and flight to Nagpur. On your arrival meet to our assitance and drive to the Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve (approx. 2.5 hours). After lunch at our lodge we go on our first safari. Of all the tiger reserves in India, Tadoba offers the highest chance of seeing a tiger.
Meals: Breakfast, dinner included
Early in the morning and afternoon we explore the Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve on an exclusive jeep safari. The Tadoba Andheri Tiger Reserve is one of the most beautiful national parks in India, with a core area of 625 km² and a larger buffer zone of 1102 km².
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, & dinner included
Today we drive to Kanha. It takes us about 6-7 hours to cover the 295 kilometers. Kanha National Park is considered one of the best protected areas in Asia. In addition to Bengal tigers, the park is home to Asian leopards, wild dogs, honey badgers, smooth-coated otters, vampire bats and the Indian pangolin. A variety of birds and butterflies also find a home in the park.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, & dinner included
An exclusive jeep safari in the park awaits us in the early morning and late afternoon.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, & dinner included
This morning we go on our last safari in the Kanha Tiger Reserve before driving to Bandhavgarh (260km, approx., 6.5 hours). Bandhavgarh National Park offers an excellent habitat for tigers. In view of the importance and potential of the national park, it was included in the Tiger Network project in 1993. The adjacent Panpatha Sanctuary was also added as part of the reserve. The magnificently striped cat was hunted almost to extinction by 1970, after there were still over 40,000 specimens at the turn of the century around 1900. Thanks to the efforts of Project Tiger, which looks after reserves such as Bandhavgarh, the tiger now has a chance of surviving in the next century.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, & dinner included
Two safaris await us in the national park and we have a good chance of encountering the king of the jungle. The wilderness of Bandhavgarh is home to a rich variety of wild animals, such as tigers, leopards, gaur (Indian bison), as well as various species of deer and birds.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, & dinner included
After breakfast we set off for Khajuraho (265km, approx. 5.5 hours). Khajuraho is a small town, but a well-known destination for international tourists due to the temples that were built between 885 and 1050 AD. The temple groups are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and are considered architectural wonders of bygone times. In the afternoon we explore the temple group, known for its "erotic" sculptures.
Meals: Breakfast included
We continue our journey to Gwalior (270km, approx. 5.5 hours), known for its many palaces and temples, including the artistically carved Hindu temple Sas Bahu Ka Mandir. A winding road takes us to the old Gwalior Fort, located on a sandstone plateau above the city. Within the high walls of the fort is the 15th century Gujari Mahal Palace, which is now an archaeological museum.
Meals: Breakfast included
A relatively short stage takes us to Agra today (110km, approx. 2.5 hours). Situated on the right bank of the Yamuna River, Agra has a glorious past created by warriors who were as skilled in art and architecture as they were on the battlefield. Upon arrival, we explore the imposing Agra Fort and visit the unique and fairytale-like Taj Mahal for sunset.
Meals: Breakfast included
Today we drive to Swamaidhopur to Ranthambore National Park to observe tigers in their natural habitat in Rajasthan. Surrounded by the rugged hills of the Aravallis, the park is also home to an abandoned medieval fort, which adds to the mystique of the place. After our arrival, our first safari in the national park awaits us.
