Jalaluddin Muhammad Akbar lived from 1542 to 1605 and was the son of the Mughal emperor Nasir du Din Muhammad Humayun, whose impressive mausoleum can be admired in the capital Delhi. Like his father, Akbar was the Great Mughal of India and ruled the country from 1565 until his death in 1605. In the early 1600s, the ruler Akbar began the construction of his mausoleum, which was completed by his son in 1613.
