Day 1: ARRIVAL NEW DELHI
You will be warmly welcomed by one of our representative with fresh flower garland. Transfer and overnight at the hotel.
Day 2: DELHI – MANDAWA
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure by road towards Shekhawati region. Nicknamed “the open-air art gallery of Rajasthan”, Shekhawati is a region surrounded by sand dunes, where you can find havelis, houses of rich merchants who once made a living from the camel trade between India and Pakistan. The visit continues with the discovery of the villages of Mandawa and Nawalgarh where a gentle tranquility rocks the villages today. You may be awakened by the cry of the numerous peacocks that populate the village, representing the national animal of India. Installation at the hotel. Night at the hotel.
Day 3: MANDAWA – BIKANER
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure by road for Bikaner. Arrival at Bikaner, after check in, explore the Bikaner. Bikaner is a city surrounded by the desert, still today, inhabited by its heroic past. You will discover its labyrinth of medieval streets and its lively bazaar. This day continues with a visit to the sumptuous castle of the Maharajahs of Bikaner which is located inside an impressive citadel, Junagarh Fort, containing an impressive collection of weapons. Night at the hotel.
Day 4: BIKANER – JAISALMER
Breakfast at hotel later proceed by road to Jaisalmer. During this journey, we advise you to observe the side of the road, as you may see antelopes searching for vegetation. Along the way, you will stop in villages to meet the local people. Opportunity to visit a local school. Arrival in Jaisalmer and check-in at the hotel. The day continues with a visit to Viyas Chattri, the hill of cenotaphs to discover the decorative chhatri of the Maharawal (rulers) of Jaisalmer. Under the dome of each chhatri is a small stele representing one or more “sati”. A sati is a sovereign who set herself on fire so as not to survive her royal husband. Night at the hotel.
Day 5: JAISALMER – SAM DUNE – JAISALMER
After breakfast, commence of the day with a visit to Jaisalmer, nicknamed the “Yellow City”. Located just a hundred kilometers from the border with Pakistan, the distant fortified citadel of Jaisalmer impresses with its walls and massive towers. In the citadel, visit the very beautiful set of magnificently sculpted Jain temples, built in the 15th century. Then walk around town and discover Gadi Sagar Lake, a water reservoir located south of the fortress. In the middle of the afternoon, departure for an atypical activity, a camel ride in the desert. The end of the walk will be an opportunity to admire the sun setting over the dunes. Night at the hotel.
Day 6: JAISALMER – JODHPUR
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure by road to visit the blue city of Jodhpur. The city is dominated by Mehrangarh Fort, “Fort of Majesty” with the harem, the sumptuous reception room, the room of cradles, the curious little palace of mirrors and the room with royal palanquins with the chiseled silver “howdah”. You will attend a Turban installation demonstration in the Fort. You will also visit Jaswant Thada, a superb white marble mausoleum nicknamed the little Taj Mahal of Rajasthan. Continuation with a walk in the bazaar around the Clock Tower. Immerse yourself in local customs and discover artisans and merchants of all kinds. The stalls of this market are overflowing with sari fabrics, spices, grains, fruits and vegetables. Night at the hotel.
Day 7: JODHPUR – PUSHKAR – PACHEWAR GARH
Breakfast. Departure by road for Pachewar Garh, a small village where you will spend the night in an authentic fort, via Pushkar. Pushkar is an important pilgrimage site for Hinduism. Located on the banks of the lake, pilgrims use the ghats to be able to go down to bathe in the sacred waters. Every year in November, one of the largest camel fairs takes place there, one of the most famous and colorful in India. In the afternoon, drive to Pachewar Garh. Night at the hotel.
Day 8: PACHEWAR GARH – JAIPUR
After breakfast, departure to the pink city Jaipur. Afternoon, visit the royal palace and the observatory. You will visit the jewelry store where you will see how the jewelry is made. Jaipur is world famous for its precious and semi-precious stone. Night at the hotel.
Day 9: JAIPUR – AMBER – JAIPUR
Breakfast at the hotel. Then visit Amber Fort, the capital of the ancient Rajput empire. You will climb to the top of its ramparts on the back of an elephant or jeep. The palace rooms and a small temple dedicated to the goddess Kali are located around a pleasant Mughal garden. At the end of the morning, you will attend a saree fitting demonstration in a boutique. For lunch, your guide will help you find the right restaurant. Visit Jaipur, one of the most colorful and picturesque cities in all of India. You will visit the “City Palace”, the palace of the Maharajah, the “Jantar Mantar”, an astonishing observatory built by a prince passionate about astronomy. You will pass in front of the famous “Hawa Mahal”, Palace of the Winds, undoubtedly the most famous monument in Jaipur. Before dinner, screening for those who wish of a “Bollywood” film in the immense, legendary and very kitsch cinema hall of the Raj Mandir where you can vibrate, laugh or cry in tune with the Indian spectators. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 10: JAIPUR – FATEHPUR SIKRI – AGRA
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure by road for Agra. En route, visit Fatehpur Sikri, an ancient and astonishing abandoned capital built by the Mughal emperor Akbar in 1571. The imperial city contains a wide variety of palaces, colonnaded buildings, pavilions, courtyards and pools, mosques, caravanserai. After lunch, visit Agra, a mecca of Mughal art and architecture. Visit to the Red Fort. This fort, whose high massive walls of pink sandstone dominate the Yamouna, contains palaces, true jewels of white marble and red sandstone chiseled and inlaid with colored stones, audience rooms, gardens, pools and mosques…
Installation at the hotel then transfer by carriage and short tour of “Agra by night” to the restaurant. Dinner and night.
Day 11: AGRA – DELHI
Very early in the morning during sunrise visit the Taj Mahal, the most famous monument in India, built by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Visit to marble craftsmanship. Later back to hotel, breakfast & check out, the once more explore this city. You will meet the artists from the same family who worked on the Taj Mahal. Departure by road for Delhi. Check in at the hotel.
Day 12: DELHI – DEPARTURE
Breakfast at the hotel. You will visit Delhi and pass the Red Fort, symbol of Mughal power. Then visit Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India. Walk in the old town of Chandni Chowk. Stop at Raj Ghat, Gandhi memorial. Passage past government buildings, the India Gate triumphal arch and the Birla Mandir temple. Discovery of the Sikh Bangla Sahib temple. In the evening, dinner in a restaurant and transfer to the airport for return on a regular flight.
